Monday 20 June 2011 It's Official - Results are in!
Well done to all the players in the band for a fantastic weekend and some superb performances on Knight Templar.
The band played in Saddleworth on Whit Friday and achieve 3rd Place Overall, with a 1st at Uppermill. At Morley march contest on Sunday they obtained 1st Place and Overall Winners, Best March, Best Hymn, Best Deportment and Best Instrumentalist At Hebden Bridge march contest, also on Sunday, they were awarded 1st Place and Overall Winners. Hi All. Whit Friday is upon us again.
The band will be taking part in the Whit Friday morning marches from 8.30am in Diggle. They will march from the Hanging Gate to meet Wrigley Mill and then march into Uppermill. Heading back to Diggle at about 11.30am. In the evening it will be all out to try and pick up some silverware and emulate last years successes. Good luck to the band. Monday 13 June 2011
On a fine Saturday evening Marsden Silver Prize Band held it's 26th Annual March Contest. The weather held off for a fine contest with 8 bands performing on the night. The adjudicator Mr. Stuart Fawcett awarded the following results:
1st Rainford, 2nd Meltham, 3rd Milnrow. Best 2nd Section: Uppermill, Best 3rd Section: Huddersfield & Ripponden, Best 4th Secton: Blackley, Best Basses: Meltham, Best Solo Cornet: Uppermill, Best Hymn: Rainford, Best Deportment: Rainford. Monday 6 June 2011
The brassstats rankings http://www.brassstats.com/ have Marsden placed 11th, a rise of 10 places. This is a magnificent achievement and shows how far the band have come under the direction of Glyn Williams in the past 18 months.
Marsden have risen 21 places in the 4barsrest.com world rankings to number 33 http://www.4barsrest.com/rankings/ This is the highest placing the band has achieved and comes on the back of two excellent contest results in May. Winners of the Senior Cup at the Spring Festival and 3rd place at the All England Masters International in Kettering.

Sorry to post a bit late and it is probably well known by now but Marsden Band were placed 3rd at the All England Masters International contest in Kettering. After a fantastic performance of the Darrol Barry piece Gemini the band secured 3rd place from a number 4 draw.
Obviously the band are delighted with the result and are now looking forward to Whit Friday.
